The replacement technique is a very common technique used by ninjas in the Naruto anime. It is an excellent way to trick the enemy and get them to drop their guard. It also is a great way to escape tough situations. To perform the replacement technique, the user will quickly switch places with an inanimate object nearby and transform the object to look like them.

When the object gets hit, the enemy often assumes they have won the battle and drops their guard. During the confusion, the user can either hide, flee, or mount a surprise counterattack.
